Beautiful Bronze statue of Vishnu dating from the early 1800s.
Vishnu is one of the principle deities of Hinduism, and, along with Brahma and Shiva, forms the Hindu trinity.
Vishnu is the peace-loving deity of that trinity, He is the Preserver or Sustainer of life, known for his steadfast principles of order, righteousness and truth. When these values are under threat, Vishnu emerges out of his transcendence to restore peace and order on earth.
On one of the backhands, he holds the milky white conch shell, or sankha, that spreads the primordial sound of Om and the other hands hold a lotus or padma, which stands for a glorious existence.
This statue was part of a large collection of a Lady in England.
It shows Vishnu with his Conch shell and Lotus flower with 3 attendants, also he has 2 animal heads on the side of his and an angry face on the back.
It measures 26″/66cm (just over 2 feet) and the base is 11″/28cm and 14″/36cm at its widest part.
